Summer Contest Happening Now!

We’re having a special summer contest to encourage students to not fall behind on their martial arts this summer!

It is difficult for the human body to get back into the routine of training martial arts after taking a long break. In less than two weeks the body already begins to lose its ability to utilize oxygen at the efficiency it was during consecutive training. This might effect your ability to last the full duration of the match without losing momentum. To help you stay on track, we’re having a summer contest so you can keep up your skills!

For those who do not plan on going anywhere on vacation or are staying here in Florida, American Top Team St Petersburg is excited to train with you the entire summer! We know everyone hás been training hard to improve their martial arts and deserve some rest but we recommend only taking two weeks off maximum at a time.

For the contest we want you to show us your best and favorite martial arts moves and tricks that you have learned in class this past year! We want to see who can get the most creaive with their Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Karate, Judo, and Wrestling moves on vacation! At the end of the contest we will be choosing a few winners on August 1st, 2018. In order to enter all you have to do is take a picture of your moves, upload to social media tagging three friends, and use the #juniorfernandesmma and #attftl hashtags!

In order to perform at maximum compacity our body needs to continuously train to be able to take in and use oxygen the most efficiently. This is one of the reasons why it is extremly important to not take too much time off Jiu-Jitsu. If you are only coming to class once or twice a week it is unlikely you will able to go long without feeling out of breath compared to a student who is dedicating four or more days a week to their training/rolling. Jiu Jitsu is a skill that you need to continuously The longer you continue to train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu the smarter you become about preserving your energy. This is important when rolling with higher belts because they are able to control their energy better. We encourage our students to try and make it to class at least three to four times a week to achieve the most our of their training.
