Start your day off right with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu morning training here at American Top Team St. Pete!

There are so many benefits of training Brazilian jiu jitsu first thing in the morning before getting your day started! Waking up, making your way to the academy, and getting after it offers both mental and physical gratification. Training in the morning promotes a boost in metabolism, ensuring that calories are being burned off throughout the day. Morning jiu jitsu also promotes endorphins in the brain, which can elevate the mood and help start the day with a positive mindset.

According to research, exercising early in the morning significantly increases an individual’s mental capacity and is linked to increased brain power. But don’t worry, you will not wake up first thing in the morning and jump into a BJJ competition class! We will use this time to incorporate a lot of drilling, allowing you to build upon the technical aspect of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Drilling a lot of movements and techniques will allow you to learn, sharpen different areas of your training while getting in a great workout! Some more benefits of training in the morning include loosening up of the joints and muscles, which allows the heart to work and adjust gradually thus increasing blood flow throughout the body. Moving forward this allows the heart to send the proper amount of oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells. This also prepares the central nervous system to take on the days obstacles.

When training early in the morning it is important to make sure to be properly hydrated and have a small breakfast for fuel! A percentage of athletes prefer to get their first training session in the morning on an empty stomach, while staying hydrated. This approach will burn pure fat as your body has nowhere else to pull from. If you eat a sandwich your body will need to burn through this before hitting the fat. Now if you just consume water and or coffee for your energy, training first thing in the morning you will help you reach your ideal weight in no time!
